Infusion : Ayurveda medicine
Infusions are made to make medicines last longer. These are made from different types of plants according to the diseases. For infusion, first a clean earthen pot is taken and the necessary herbs, water and juice of other auxiliary plants are filled in it. Jaggery, sugar, honey and other aromatic substances are added in required quantity. After that it is mixed with Dhyati flowers or yeast and kept in a temperate (normal temperature) room for fifteen to twenty five days with a lid. After this, the sandhan (brewing) process begins in it. After the fermentation process is completed, the liquid obtained by filtering it is called ‘asava’.
Asava is a stimulant to the body and appetite, relieves sleeplessness, pain and restlessness of the mouth, and pleases the mind; Arishta is beneficial in diseases such as emaciation or rotting of the body, hemorrhoids, old disorders of digestion etc. Infusion from drugs such as vala, opium, aloe, sandalwood etc.; Arishta is made from Ashoka, Gulvel, Ashwagandha, Draksha etc. Asava-Arishta is more effective the older it is.
